Sigma Interview: We Need One or Two More Years to Complete the L-mount System

Recently, dpreview had a chance to interview with Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki. Talking about the L-mount cameras & lenses and Foveon sensor full-frame camera. Below is the highlights of this interview:

From dpreview:

  • There are a lot of potential customers out there, but I think they’re waiting and seeing how the L-mount system develops. I think we need one or two more years before we have a complete L-mount system. Not only from Sigma but also Panasonic and Leica.
  • Sigma fp sold quite well at the beginning. To be honest though, sales have declined considerably [since launch], especially in Europe and America. It’s still selling well in Japan, but overall sales have been lower than expected.
  • Sigma will release more small lenses like Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN C lens for street photographers, or those who need smaller, stylish, high-quality products.
  • Sigma foveon sensor full frame camera is delayed due to the development of the sensor has been significantly delayed.
