Panasonic has officially announced new firmware version 1.3 for Lumix S1 and S1R full frame mirrorless cameras today. The S1 (B&H Photo Video/Adorama/Amazon) and S1R (B&H Photo Video/Adorama/Amazon) gain CFexpress compatibility, function better with Sigma L-mount lenses and adapters, along with a host of minor fixes and feature extensions. The new firmware version 1.3 will be available on November 19th, 2019.

The new Panasonic Lumix S1H is the first mirrorless camera that approved by Netflix. Production units are allowed to use it as a main camera shooting in either DCI 4K (4,096 x 2,160) or Ultra HD (3,840 x 2,160) resolutions. That gives Panasonic’s fledgling full-frame S1 lineup a boost of prestige, and filmmakers a relatively inexpensive way to create Netflix shows.
